The Marlins will be out to claim a two-game victory this weekend, with the team playing a commanding game and boasting an untarnished record at home in ’07. They were barely pushed in the quarter and semi finals last week, easily beating Bundaberg (131-76) and then cutting down a tired Rockhampton (104-77). They’ve already managed the Gold Coast once this year (114-85 in Round 10) with another firey game likely to pan out, if the players lose sight of the real prize- a National Quarter Final at home. The Goannas showed that they mean business in 2007, after racking up huge scorelines last week sending both Maroochydore and South West packing. Aucoin collecting the Player of the Week Award with some of his best basketball all season. The Marlins are packing a bigger punch but the Goannas have what it takes to sneak over if they are on their game. For the Goannas to see a National Final, they must win this weekend.

The Townsville Flames have the better record this season and will be a very tough competitor this weekend. They are on a 19-game winning streak and have not even looked close to dropping a game since their Round 1 loss. Cox, Flannagan and Heilbronn have big game experience and their highly polished game will not be an easy task for the Clippers to keep under control. This Maroochydore team joined the full state League in ‘07 and have proven themselves to be a serious contender. Stringer will need to carry a big workload, with the Clippers unable to stay with the Flames back in Round 12 (79-48). The State Championship winner will fly down to NSW next weekend to take on the best the Waratah League has to offer.
